JetPCL® Software Developer : detail

JetPCL Software Developer is a high quality HP (Hewlett Packard) PCL (Printer Control Language) emulation tool that you can integrate into your software product for distribution. It is designed specifically for integration and is extremely fast. On Windows systems it is easy to work with because it does not rely on the Windows GDI or Registry. It is available as a child process command line driven executable (on Win32 or UNIX platforms) or as a DLL (on Win32 systems). JetPCL translates LaserJet PCL data into an image file identical to the printed page. JetPCL produces a variety of output formats including PDF (the Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format), TIFF Class-F, Windows BMP, DCX, PCX and others.

Developers of Fax Server Systems commonly use JetPCL within their software to deliver an enhanced product for the enterprise market. JetPCL is commonly integrated into applications such as Document Delivery systems, unified messaging solutions, document archiving and retrieval systems. Professionals choose JetPCL to generate image files for faxing, emailing, previewing, document archiving and web publishing because it is accurate and reliable.

Frequently, JetPCL is integrated into the server software, enabling the client application to support PCL generated documents. These PCL documents may be generated directly by the application or by any external application that can print to a LaserJet PCL printer. This is especially valuable in supporting legacy applications and non-Windows client systems, but is also used in many modern Windows applications where PCL is the document description language of choice.

Its easy to integrate JetPCL into your software product using almost any programming language. JetPCL can be used with nearly any system that can spawn a child process. Our knowledge base offers sample source code showing how to use JetPCL with C, C++, C#, Visual Basic, Borland Delphi, Java, .NET and Perl applications.

Special features of JetPCL Enterprise Server not found in some converters:

  • Supports non-western languages, such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hebrew, Arabic, Greek and Cyrillic.
  • Generates specific types of PDF documents for different purposes (e.g. image based or native font based PDF files).
  • Merges an image, such as a company logo or signature anywhere on the page.
  • Merges images, such as barcodes, into a PCL data stream before printing or additional JetPCL processing.
  • Allows the user to embed fax or document routing information within the PCL data stream for use after JetPCL conversion.
  • Merges pre-defined page images with JetPCL output, like printing on pre-printed forms.
  • Merges entire document images to produce complex final document images.
  • Adjusts the JetPCL output image with shifting and clipping options.
  • Converts image files into PCL data for integration with other PCL documents.
